Summer Programs update - April 17, 2026

A letter from the SCCOE Assistant Superintendent:

Dear Families,

Thank you for being part of the Walden West community and for trusting our program. We want to let you know that we will not be able to offer summer camp in July.

There is active construction on site. This includes safety concerns, limited access to buildings, and possible service disruptions. Because of this, we cannot run camp in a way that is safe or meets our program standards. Instead of offering a limited experience, we decided to pause July Summer Day Camp, Wild Things, Leaders in Training and Counselors in Training and Summer Camp Counselor Programs.

We know this news is disappointing. Many families and staff were looking forward to summer camp. Our team carefully looked at several options to see if camp could still happen. As we continued planning, we learned that important details about construction timing will not be confirmed until mid‑May or June. With so many unknowns, we felt it was important to share this decision now so families and counselors can plan ahead.

We understand this may mean changes to your summer plans. Thank you for your understanding as we take this step to protect the future of Walden West. Families registered for July programs will receive a full refund. Please allow us time to process these over the next couple of weeks.

Please let us know if we can help support you during this transition.

Warm regards,

Dr. Matt Wayne, SCCOE Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services
